Vintage blanket free crochet pattern

A blanket with the pattern above was on an episode of call the midwife and inspired me to have a go at making one. It also makes for a lovely scarf if you stick to 3, maybe 4 blocks, depending on the yarn you use.

I tried a pattern found online but just kept falling foul of it and was frogging every five minutes. I gave up on that one and worked one out for myself. I’m about half way through and think another 5 or 6 blocks will make a useful sized blanket for a little one.

I’ve been very busy and am pursuing an interest that I’ve had for many years – I’m taking aromatherapy classes! I took module one last weekend – Friday evening, then all day Sat and Sun. Met some lovely ladies and enjoyed the training. Last thing on Sunday, we sat in pairs and practiced hand massages. Heaven. The room was full of soothing and healing smells and the massage was wonderful. Glory be – I mean wonderful!

I booked Friday and Monday off work so I could have some down time (barring washing, cleaning and ironing… lol). I have to find some guinea pigs to practice hand massages on and write up the consultation, the aromatherapy blend and send back to the training centre for assessment. Next module is January so a bit of time to do that. Also have to take anatomy and physiology classes to be eligible to take the aromatherapy diploma exam. The course finishes with an exam next October, I think, when I hopefully, will be a qualified aromatherapist. Yay me! What will I do then? Really don’t know! It’s far, far removed from what I do now and have no idea if I could make a living from it.

Now then, who will be my willing victims clients?

Lovely to get a comment back, Helen! You are obviously a busy lady. Yes, it has been long and serious but maybe not what you are thinking… let’s just say I am now chemically and mechanically kept ticking! It slows me up but hey!, the alternative doesn’t appeal so I follow instructions and give thanks every morning that I wake up. The music keeps me sane, ha ha. I pop in to your blog be nosey sometimes – had to let my blog go, the cobwebs got too much for me. I so love your kitties – hope the tail is getting better – nasty man. Take care, stay warm and big hugs. Andi

      Andi,
It’s great hearing from you after so long. Sounds like a pacemaker…? Or are you bionic – not one of those Nexus 6 andi’s are you? Lol! Hopefully a good long new of life in every way.

Yes, man next door is starting to get very strange…. he fell out with his other neighbour some 20 years ago and hasn’t spoken to him since so he probably had some social/anger issues to start with and maybe his filters are going now? Who knows – just don’t hurt my kitties!

I listened to a ‘I haven’t a clue'(you went to a live show once, I remember) on You Tube the other day and it was a Lionel Blair compilation – had to stop from laughing like a drain but some were so RUDE!!! I don’t know how Humph got away with some of them!:)

Time to settle down for the Bake Off!!! Do you watch? Am rooting for Kim Joy or Ruby.

      Take care!!

Thank you very much for the generous share of your crochet blanket, Helen. Something to while away the winter evenings methinks. Hoping you are well and that the aromatherapy leads to interesting future enterprises for you.
    Best wishes, Andi. (remember me?)

Mema! Of course I remember you! You were brilliant with music – different genres, eras…. amazeballs!

I hope you’re feeling better. Seeing as it’s been so long I’m guessing it was long and serious but I won’t give it strength by ‘naming’ it (that’s if I’m right). I hope whatever it was has returned to the nothingness it came from.

The aromatherapy is something I’ve been interested in for donkey’s years. If I make back the cost of the oils and stuff I’ll be happy. I think I’ll have to work till my clogs drop off and doubt I’ll have the luxury of a living from aromatherapy.

Share whatever you feel comfortable with and I wish you all the luck and health in the world.

It’s super lovely to hear from you again – I hope you are well enough to keep in touch.

      Big hugs and kisses

      Hel
